!!!!!!!!!!! All that fussing for such an oh-so- conservative- bland hairstyle!
Everyone who goes on television is combed, sprayed and made up. There’s nothing special about it, it’s a routine procedure. But some Republican shill thought he would score some cheap points by adding “I feel pretty” to the feed.
This is an old — and by the way, homophobic — tactic. The idea is to delegitimize a Democratic candidate by suggesting he’s weak-willed and “a pansy.” Our recent election history shows there’s enough yahoos in this country to be swayed by such nonsense.
I’m a little surprised that Nightcharm fell for it.
Nightcharm fell for nothing — except a good laugh. Regardless the candidate’s party, the YouTube clip is brilliant.
True enough that everyone who goes on TV is combed and poofed but Mr. Edward’s focused ardor with that little tiny compact, well, that pushed this moment over the borderline of amour propre. And into RuPaulville.
Sorry.

unfortunately it looks like an attack ad
I think it’s hilarious, because we get a peek into Mr. Edwards’ psyche. During the entire campaign, although I was rooting - and campaigning - furiously for Kerry/Edwards, I never liked this man. I thought he came off like a telelvangelist, and he was smarmy. This video is revelatory because it confirms what my gut told me - he’s a big phony; anyone THIS obsessed with his dyed hair would offer little more to this country than the man who is there right now, doing (meager) bench-presses in the basement while his war rages. I hope hope hope hope that THIS time around My Beloved Democratic Party can offer up someone with vision, education, character AND true charisma. Because let’s face it, boys - the majority of Americans love swaggering cowboys, just as much as we love the Brokeback ones.
That is too funny… he’s way worse than a lot of the gay guys I know. This clip just illustrates how phony and image-obsessed our politicans are. It doesn’t matter whether he’s a Democrat or a Republican; they’re all the same. Publicists, media advisors, stylists and personal trainers are truly in charge of the political process here. There’s nothing authentic or original that these candidates have to offer. I wish we could hear what our dearly departed Molly Ivins would have had to say in response to this video!
Well, I agree, David K., this is just funny. You’ll remember that the Bushies (Molly Ivins’ term) used to call him The Prell Girl during the late lamented presidential campaign, but even the Prell Girl herself couldn’t have maneuvered us into the mess we find ourselves in, in Iraq. But who else besides a narcissistic sob would want to be President of the USA? I keep remembering the Persian war with Sparta, a thought I had when we invaded Iraq, and wonder if this is the end of our great republic.
So funny.
I kind of agree with Presley. It seems like a set up, and I wonder why these types of tapes always show up for Democrats and not Republicans. How vain was Ronald Reagan? He was an actor for gosh sakes. Don’t tell me he never looked in a mirror with that polished hair of his, (and makeup too).
You work with what you’ve got, and for Edwards part of that is his looks. Let’s face it, attractive people get more doors open to them and they know it. The flip side to that is the suspician that there’s no substance underneath. Naturally, the GOP’s job is to define him in that manner. And…absent a “ranch” or other prop Republicans typically use, the technique is likely to succeed. It’s on UTube, after all.
By the way, I watched the video sound off and on. On, it’s pretty funny. Off, you get a better picture of what’s going on,..which is a man grimicing at hair spray, and straining to fix his hair through a tiny little compact after the stylist fussed with it. If he was able to get up and check himself out in a normal sized mirror, there would be no story.
Yes, I agree with Sam. I think it`s just normal. There`s nothing to it.
