An Understandably Furious Diesel Washington Speaks Out Against Racism In Gay Porn

by Mark Adnum

dusele

Gay porn star Diesel Washington has taken to YouTube to address the dreaded Marc Dylan’s guileless admission recently that in the 100-plus scenes he has filmed, Dylan has only ever performed with men he is physically attracted to. As many have noted, not a single Dylan scene has involved a man that is not Caucasian. Many gay porn websites are alight with the drama, and below, you can see Washington’s impassioned response on YouTube.

As for Dylan himself, I experienced a bizarre Marc Dylan drama of my own a couple of months ago where Dylan happily and enthusiastically agreed to my request to reprint a blog post of his, a request which I honored by reprinting the post verbatim — I did not change a word of his original text or present it duplicitously in any way. I nevertheless awoke the next morning to an avalanche of emails from him calling me a “dumbfuck” for “misrepresenting him” and demanding I take the post down (he also threatened legal action, swung in a slew of emails from his studio bosses and, even more ominously, told me he was going to block me from Facebook and Twitter, which he did).

So, apart from the necessary mention of his cursed name in relation to Diesel Washington’s right-on response, Dylan has not been heard or seen from on this website since. And unless something like this tangentially related to him happens again, Dylan won’t be seen or heard on Nightcharm in the future either. Oh, and we just welcomed our 20,000,000th visitor over our 15 years of operation. Marketing magic, Marc! More power to you, Diesel, we’re with you all the way!

Everybody is entitled to their own tastes and that doesn’t make them racist in fact it’s racist to assume so. I fancy black men and not skinny men. That’s life.

  • baroness

I agree that everyone has their own tastes. I fancy white men and men no darker than very light beige. I’m into non-apelike features and very thin European aesthetics. That is life.

  • anon

He has no room to talk like Dylan he also never worked with minority studios or talent until he was blacklisted from major studios then he wanted to be pro minority porn. I’m not buying this Al Sharpton of the porn world schtick and he can save it for someone who believes him if this isn’t the biggest case of the pot calling the kettle black I don’t know what is .

  • anon

    non-apelike features… you’re a bigot asshole and I’m sure you’re no beauty yourself asswipe

I don’t agree with Diesel, sorry. It sounds to me that when some issue that has nothing to do with the color of the skin reveals that some race is being left out, then is a racist issue. We have to be careful about Political Correction. I think Diesel is overacting the fact that Dylan is not acting with black guys or people from other races. Is not that this Dylan is saying or doing something attacking black people, insulting, etc. For God’s sake, it’s porn, a business as Diesel says, creating and selling fantasy!
If I was a porn actor who can choose who to act with I would probably do the same. I don’t like american indians or asians for instance for sex, I don’t feel atracted to them. I can be and in fact I am friend with them, work mate, good neighbour, but does it mean that I have to sleep with them! otherwise I am a racist? If I don’t sleep with women then I am sexist?
I don’t know this Dylan and probably for what you say in the text he might be a jerk, but I don’t agree with the point of view of Diesel, who I would sleep with without thinking twice!!!
We should try to stop telling others what they should or shouldn’t do in bed. Diesel says is not personal agenda but business. I repeat, he doesn’t make porn with women, then he is a male chovinist? I still think porn is a private thing turn into a business, I love porn, but it’s for each of us a private thing. I’m not going to watch porn from guys I don’t feel attracted to. I understand that an actor who is not in the urge for money act with someone he doesn’t feel attracted to.

That comment has been deleted, for obvious reasons.

Gays don’t have sex with women because of their sexual orientation, which is genetic. It’s the same reason that humans don’t have sex with dogs. There is no choice in a genetic trait. Race preferences are a conditioned response. Nobody is born preferring white dudes. So that’s a silly comparison.

Moreover, if you think you’ve never seen Marc Dylan or any other porn star having sex with someone he doesn’t feel attracted to, you’re merely fooling yourself. We don’t need to be careful about “political correctness” — we need to be careful about the ongoing racism and segregation in the gay community.

  • TrueWords

I have to agree…he was not sleeping with “black” porn actors until he was downgraded from Titan, Falcon, etc…before that his co-stars were exclusively white twins that serviced him like a big Mandingo stud…of which he likes to say he has aggressive sex that is what he is into…if Diesel Washington and others are so liberal in their thinking why don’t they suck and fuck with someone 5’6″ 300 lbs. and hairy on screen…or someone significantly older…or why hasn’t he bottomed…I mean where is his versatility as an actor.

  • TrueWords

Agreed, we have different taste sexually but Diesel Washington wants to put it out there that if you don’t find black men sexually attractive and desirable you are a racist…that is just plain nuts…I don’t want people to find me sexually attractive and that is all…for there are countless men who are absolutely handsome but i would not sleep with them because of chemistry and personal integrity…does that make me a racist…no it does not…

Also what about all these black performers (from Breed it Raw, Chocolate Cream, etc) that have not slept with a white man in porn are they racist…or the men on SeanCody and CorbinFisher….are they racist???

If you yell and/or proclaim racism for every little difference or preference it is hard to recognize when real racism happens…

  • TrueWords

But attraction is just that attraction…breaking it down and dipping your feet into the waters calling it race preference is just a few feet away from saying racism….most people have a learned response to what they like…no one is saying that a black man is not attractive but rather they do not want to have sex with them…if you follow that same logic you may have body preferences and prefer someone smooth, athletic, with brown eyes and curly hair and reject someone who is hairy, overweight with green eyes and blond hair…does that make something wrong with you…if you did not have a preference then you would consider each one of the people (sexually) that I just described equally without any remorse or hesitation of thought

  • pangelboy

Every preference you listed is changeable. A person’s race is not. The gay community does itself no help reinforcing this hypocritical, for a community that seeks so called “equality”, sexual and cultural racism. Gay white men are placed on pedestals in our community and if you don’t think this discussion is not a reflection of that fact and bigger then just “preferences” than you don’t see what this is all really about.

Marc Dylan is suppose to be an actor. There are many actors in Hollywood that have taken on parts or roles. Michael Douglas and Matt Dameon recently played gay characters on HBO and they kissed. Health Ledger and Jake played gay characters in Brokeback Mountain. All are straight men. It’s called acting. Hollywood actors have played bad guys or racist in movies and in reality, they aren’t like the characters they portray on film. Once again, it’s called acting. Marc Dylan is a racist. He’s a fucking actor and why shouldn’t he be able to play a role with a black male on screen? Marc Dylan is a prostitute selling his ass like many others in that line of work. I met a good looking male prostitute back in the 90?s and we became friends. I hadn’t come out at that time and I wanted to have sex with another hot male. I looked at local gay ads in my city and this guy’s ad caught my attention. He use to tell me, many of his clients were older males in their 60?s. My question to my escort friend, how can you get it up by having sex with men you’re not attracted to? He would tell me, he used his imagination by thinking of hot attractive men during sex with clients he wasn’t attracted to. It’s all about the Benjamins, if you are a prostitute or porn star. Marc Dylan is full of shit and he was called out on it. Being selective with whom you sleep with in your private life is your right. As I told Marc on QMN, his supporters are kissing his white ass hoping one day they will meet him. There was nothing racist about referring to Marc’s ass as being white. My ass is black and I’ve told others of all races or ethnic groups to kiss my black ass. Technically, my ass is brown, not black. LOL The point I’m making, many of us have told people to kiss our white, brown, or black asses. There’s racism and segregation within the gay community and black gay men are seen as invisible by the mostly white gay community. I will say this, white gay males aren’t minority in the United States of America. They belong to the 220 million majority white population in the United States.

  • Tony

I agree, pangleboy. Gay white men or Caucasians periold are placed on pedestals in the U.S. As a black gay male, it’s depressing to be discriminated for being both gay and black. What hurt’s the most is to experience racism from white gay males, not all white gay males. I wonder how many black, Afro Puerto Rican, Afro Cubano, Afro Brazilian, West Indian, and Afro Dominican friends Marc Dylan have? I’ve never seen Adam Killian or Jesse Ares do a gay porn scene with a black model and I’m a big fan of these 2 men. Are these white gay porn actors racist, I don’t know, and I hope not.

  • Tony

For the record, I’m assuming, Marc Dylan must have emailed QMN regarding my comments towards him on their site, and they were later deleted and I was blocked from making comments on QMN. I’m now boycotting that particular gay site because in my opinon, black men or ‘Men of Color’ aren’t welcome there to have an opinion. Marc stated, I was racist because I said, his supporters are kissing his white ass. If Marc had been black or brown, I would have said, kissing Marc’s black or brown ass. I’ve come to terms with the existence of racism within the gay community and there’s nothing I can do to change it, like I can’t do with racisim as a whole in the U.S. We all have to reap what we have sowed in life. I discussed racism in this country and how the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin verdict have divided blacks and whites in the United States. Oprah Winfry recently experience racism in Switzerland by asking to see a $38,000 hand bag and the white clerk told her no because it was too expensive. I wonder if this same white store clerk would have said that to a white or white Hispanic female? Racism is alive in society and black is seen as inferior and white is superior.

  • txsaneman

And here we go again…defending the “people can’t help who they are attracted to” concept. Ya know what? I say that’s absolutely fine. If you want to tell yourself that the reason you don’t sleep with black, asians, latinos, whites or arabs is purely aesthetic, you go right ahead. Personally, I call BS on that. I have never found a single race on this planet that did not count members that were attractive to me among them. But it’s your rodeo. If someone doesn’t want to sleep with me solely because of my race, I say “Great!” It’s their loss and a bullet dodged by me.

But again, that is NOT what this discussion is about. The primary point is that Marc Dylan’s statements suggest that he would not WORK with someone of color. He stated it was due to attraction and that in fact in ALL of his scenes, he has NEVER worked with anyone he was not attracted to. Taking him at his word, the offensive area of his statement is not his personal preference; but rather that he incorporates said personal preference into his professional life. And you can say “but his job is sex; therefore the only way he would be able to perform would be if he were attracted to his scene partner.” Well…I call BS on that as well. I have heard testimonials from both straight and gay performers who have had scene partners that they were NOT attracted to and/or had no connection with. But they pulled through it. Why? Because it was their job. And like any job in the modern age, it’s not okay to discriminate against your co-workers based on a factor such as race.

  • txsaneman

Yep, no porn star in the history of the gay or straight adult entertainment industry has ever slept with someone they were not attracted to. Ever. Just doesn’t happen right? Again, we’re not talking about the personal dating preferences of a private citizen. We’re talking about the co-worker preferences of a professional adult entertainer. It’s one thing to say “I don’t date black guys” and a completely different thing to say “I won’t work with black guys.” The fantasy they are selling is not something that happens like a bar hook up. You don’t walk in and say “Oh yeah, I’m gonna sleep with that guy over there. Quick! Somebody grab a camera!” There are scene/contract negotiations, scripting, scene partner selection (mostly done by a director,) set design/set up, etc. And the hot, steamy action? Crafted, edited over sometimes multiple takes to present a finished product that is the fantasy you are referring to. Bottom line? It’s a job. And to basically say “I won’t perform my job with a person of X race,” is offensive. Not just to the race in question, but to the industry as well.

  • TrueWords

You know what you are saying makes sense so I have come to the following conclusion:

    Tom Chase

    Mike Branson

    Adam Killian

    Jesse Ares

    Sam Crockett

    Pierre Fitch

    Lance Alexander

    Brent Everett

    Jeremy Hall

    Brent Corrigan

    Topher dimaggio

Aiden and Conner from Corbin Fisher

So many guys from SeanCody even Landon a black performer…damn his hatred of blacks must be staggering

THE ENTIRE CAST of Belami (from past and present)

and countless others are probably are racist because they have not had sex with a black man…sure some of them have been with someone that is Hispanic and/or Asian but since they have not slept/worked with a deep dark black man they are ABSOLUTELY racist…

Now if you feel that strongly about this I assume that you have stopped watching ALL porn with people who have not slept with a diverse casting especially black men…because if you have NOT you are you PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!

  • TrueWords

So you research each porn actor and if they have not slept with a diverse casting of men then you do not watch them…because if you have not you are part of the problem…shame on you!!!

  • TrueWords

WOW he must really hate his own black brothers to pay money to go on the cruise where there are so few black men

  • TrueWords

YES Marc sounds like a simple minded man and with America coming off the heels of Trayvon Martin everyone is INCREDIBLY sensitive to race relations right now and many white people especially in the gay community want to portray that they are far beyond this horrible image of George Zimmerman by slamming down this attitude…however the gay community has been incredibly divided in terms of race and most assuredly MONEY … furthermore he probably feels that he is the IT man at the moment in gay porn so his comments could fly under the radar of the gay community but

  • TrueWords

Sadly the Trayvon Martin case was a dream case for Zimmerman because all it took was one person to have responsible doubt and he could walk free…with one person dead and the other one alive reasonable doubt cases typically go in favor of the person still alive….it is a HORRIBLE injustice for Trayvon and countless others….in addition to the horrible “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida…YES Racism is alive and well in the world look at the various countries from India to Pakistan to London to Germany to Japan…it is something that continues to be present…

  • Mike Julius

This is real racism. Stop kidding yourself.

Explain to me what quality ALL BLACK MEN share that one could not be attracted to the very concept?

Not being attracted to a particular Black man is not racist. Not being attracted to ANY Black man IS racist.

You are judging an entire group of men based upon one element–they have darker skin.

So no matter what they look like, no matter how they behave, no matter what their interests are, what size they are, etc, you already know you’re not attracted to them because they are Black. How is that NOT racist?

“Black” is not a type. It’s a skin color. And it’s not even the same skin color on every Black man. Even Black men with two Black parents can differ radically in skin color, body type, facial features, hair texture, etc.

Just like men of every other ethnicity and racial category, all Black men are not the same.

Marc Dylan isn’t required to have sex with anyone he doesn’t want to, but saying I could never be attracted to any man who is Black is racist if the reason you could never be attracted to them is simply because of skin color.

It’s not about personal preference; it’s about assuming that you can already know you aren’t attracted to any man who is Black simply because he is Black.

  • pangelboy

Why would I need to research the sexual habits of a pornstar? There is a noticeable lack of talented black and latino performers in gay porn, which can be partly explained by the sexual prejudices that corses through the gay community. I understand someone to be racist based on their actions and words. Not, because they haven’t *done* something yet. Would I assume a white friend is racist because he’s never been to a hip-hop concert? No, because that would be stupid. But if they made statements that part of the reason why they’ve never attended such a concert has to do with the race of the performers then I would think them racist. Simple enough?

  • pangelboy

    > others are probably are racist because they have not had sex with a black man

No one said that not having sex with people of color is (in and of itself) racist. This is a strawman. We don’t know the motivations behind why your list of performers have not filmed interracial scenes. We do know why Marc Dylan hasn’t and his reasoning comes across as asinine and discriminatory. To claim an entire race is unattractive is pretty prejudicial to me.

  • TrueWords

An excellent point in regard to actions and words and YES what Marc said was clearly his point of view which can be received as racist…however, I don’t think I care enough as a black gay male in American society to get up in arm about what a porn actor has said any longer..

But I do challenge my gay white brothers out there to question their friends and family about this topic to see if they have been aligning themselves with racists people for years and not knowing it…sure Marc opened his big dumb mouth and started this conversation but I want to see it go further with more people having these passionate debates with friends and family members not this one person that has NO impact on your life.

I agree with you. The conversation definitely needs to be taken further than “Pornstar makes dumb Youtube video.” White, Asian, Black, etc. we should all do as you say and evaluate our own actions and beliefs, but also those around us. I just cannot fathom why a community that is maligned by judgemental idiots in the mainstream thinks it’s okay to turn around and judge, across the board, members of their own community on such standards as race.

  • TrueWords

Sadly those who have been stepped on the most tend to be harsher than others…look at many countries in Africa with their laws towards women and gays…i

  • DudeKembro

For the record, I agree with you. The point I was making was NOT that race preferences are themselves racist, they are obviously a conditioned response. What’s racist is the environment that conditions these preferences in the first place: the devaluation and degradation of nonwhites in America and, more specifically, the promotion of the Hitler Aryan Youth look as the ideal in gay media and entertainment across the board from Andrew Christian, to mainstream gay porn, to the faces serving us our drinks and dancing on our go-go platforms. Race preferences are a consequence of the real problem, they are not the cause.

The famous and sad “doll experiment” shows that by age 5 American children of all races have already internalized society’s subliminal message that white is prettier than everything else. So how can you blame us? I do, however, object to the dismissal of race issues in the gay community with “it’s just like not being attracted to women” and “there’s nothing anyone can do about it, it’s natural.” No, gay porn studios do NOT have to present black men as nothing more than scary thuggified sex objects; no, the Abbey does not have to hire ONLY white or white-looking Latino bartenders and (non security) staff. These things can and should be changed.

I suggest that gay minorities who have felt the burn of being automatically unattractive in America’s gay enclaves travel the world. Good for self-esteem and recognizing that your devaluation is really not about you.

  • DJ

I honestly don’t know why it’s such a big deal…if the dude has a preference then let him have it…I prefer white guys as a mixed race individual and if I went into porn I’d go to a company that wouldn’t mind my preference….

  • Felicianomiko

Some people don’t like white women unless they have a tan. Some people only like blondes, or dark hair or red heads. Are they somehow hairists? You like what you like, that isn’t racism. Racism is thinking one race is superior to another. That has nothing to do with attraction.

  • Akeim Ford

keep telling yourself that.. You can dye your hair.. what the guy above said is perfect and how are you going to tell someone what racism is. How long have you been black?

  • Felicianomiko

Attraction isn’t racism. I’ve always cared more about culture than color, as it is far more important to me anyway. And bigotry knows no color my friend.
