 Whereas someone like Austin--pictured top and lower right--(aka Austin Ashley) certainly has the look going for him--he's blond, youthful and looks like a decent fellow. That, paired with the fact that he has professionally modeled--he's appeared  on the cover of at least one teen magazine--only lends to his twink status.
Why is this twink status so appealing? It's the fact that on the surface, these men (boy bands, Anthony or Austin) don't appear to be individuals who would, or for that matter *should*, know that much about sex or how to be erotic. Their youth fools the viewer into thinking that because of their age, they couldn't possibly be lustful or prurient. That is what is so engaging about these men. It's the?obvious irony that is present in the equation that is so inviting. It's not as if this twink phenomenon is something new in porn. Take nearly any Mark Reynolds film from the early '80s. The director discovered a string of porn stars: Mark Jennings (aka Danny Parks) Buster, Kip Noll, Scott Noll and so forth; all were the epitome of twinkdom. William Higgins became known for his eye for twinky men as well. Brian Michaels (aka Bobby Madison), Leo Ford and Lance--among others--all appeared in his films. Other men, like blond Brian Hawks (aka Shawn McIvan), began the '80s while superstars Chad Knight and Kevin Williams closed out the decade. In the '90s, imported twinks were all the rage. George Duroy, of Bel Ami fame, brought European men like Lukas Ridgeston, Johan Paulik and Dano Sulik to gay porn.
